HCP IB Information
IB is two things. It is a philosophy and an organization.
§ The International Baccalaureate philosophy is the IB mission statement. IB aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the organization works with the schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
§ The organization is a non-profit foundation that was founded in 1968. IB came together to provide an internationally acceptable university admissions qualification suitable for the growing mobile population of young people whose parents were part of world diplomacy, international and multi-national organizations. IB offers international standardized coursework for students in the DP programs. IB is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland and offers a continuum of four educational programs for students ranging in ages from 3-19. Currently, the IB works with 4,960 schools in 150 countries to offer the four IB programmes.
